Taron Egerton stars as Elton John in this musical biopic of the English musician. When the ordinary and relative unknown Reg Dwight makes his first tentative steps in the music business he realises he must stand out if he wishes to make a name for himself and so begins his transition into Elton John. Along the way he is supported by lyricist Bernie Taupin (Jamie Bell) but he also experiences a tumultuous relationship with influential figures within the music industry including John Reid (Richard Madden) and Dick James (Stephen Graham). As his fame grows John must avoid all the trappings and difficulties that come with being a superstar.
