Eine Beschränkung auf Vaucheriales-Arten aus Wasserbiotopen Mitteleuropas war erforderlich. Die Grenzziehung erfolgte so, daß von den etwa 40 bisher in Europa festgestellten Arten 32 süßwasser- und süßwasserfeuchte-terrestrische Standorte bewohnende, sowie an Salzstellen des Binnenlandes gefundene ausführlich behandelt sind.
