"e;Rare Treasures"e; is a collection of novellas by Chen Zaijian, a young writer born in the 1980s. It includes the novellas "e;The Fishmen of Fengtai,"e; "e;Rare Treasures,"e; and "e;The Bashful Onlooker."e; The protagonist of all three novellas is Dai Qingtuo, a middle school Chinese teacher. Living in a bustling metropolis, he carries with him the background of a county town filled with "e;resentment"e; from which he fled. His social circle may seem stable and carefree, but his emotional world is precarious and fragile. The novellas reveal the spiritual situation of new immigrants in Shenzhen who are "e;like floating duckweed without roots,"e; depicting their true cowardice, desires, predicaments, and struggles.
