In the first years of the 21st Century, Timor-Leste was in turmoil. The Government was ineffective and paramilitary gangs controlled the countryside, fighting against each other. However, Indonesia saw this as an opportunity to invade and take back what they had been forced to leave, years earlier. The warring gangs united against the Indonesian army, and a bitter guerilla war followed. After many atrocities, on both sides, the Indonesians were forced to withdraw. The guerilla fighters were lionised. There was one man, however, who became crucial in this victory. His name was Vic Jensen, and he had wanted to have nothing to do with it.
