Kommunikation ist eine Grundvoraussetzung für erfolgreiche Kooperation innerhalb von Unternehmen und Organisationen. Zur Flexibilisierung der Zusammenarbeit wird verstärkt auf Teams gesetzt, die in verteilten Strukturen, also räumlich nicht zusammengefaßt, arbeiten. In diesem Zusammenhang zeigt sich oft, dass die dazu notwendige medienvermittelte Kommunikation zu suboptimalen Ergebnissen führt. Es stellt sich die Frage, in welchen Aspekten sich medienvermittelte Kommunikation und Kommunikation von Angesicht zu Angesicht unterscheiden. Dazu wird das Problem beleuchtet, warum die sogenannte informelle Kommunikation unter Medienvermittlung nicht auftritt. In einer Experimentalstudie wird abschließend untersucht, ob informelle Kommunikation durch gezielte Gestaltung eines Kommunikationssystems auch medienvermittelt möglich ist.
