Und um seinen sportlich-schnellen Charakter zu unterstreichen, bekam das Auto auch gleich noch den Namen eines afrikanischen Wüstenwindes verpasst: Scirocco. In den späten 1980ern sollte dann der Corrado den Scirocco ablösen, wurde aber stattdessen parallel zu diesem angeboten.
