E-Learning hat sich zu einem festen Bestandteil der modernen Lehre entwickelt. Wesentlich bei dieser Entwicklung ist, dass Lernende ihre traditionelle Rolle dabei mit jener des Computerusers erweitern. Dadurch rücken das Benutzerverhalten sowie die Usability der jeweiligen Lernsysteme in den Vordergrund, da sie maßgeblich zum Lernerfolg beitragen. In dieser Arbeit erfolgt die Erforschung des Userverhaltens anhand des Lernsystems Moodle. Mit der neuartigen Methode der Blickregistrierung (Eye Tracking) werden Augenbewegungen der Lernenden erfasst, um Aufmerksamkeitsverläufe bzw. -Verteilungen zu detektieren. Diese ermöglichen in weiterer Folge Aussagen über Nutzungsverhalten, Navigation beim Lernen sowie visuelle Explorationsstrategien zu treffen. Weitere Schwerpunkte dieser Arbeit sind die Untersuchung der Aufmerksamkeitssteuerung, die Bestimmung der Reihenfolge visuell erfasster Elemente, die Auswirkung unterschiedlicher Medientypen, der Einfluss von inhaltlicher Komplexität, Involvement, hedonischer/pragmatischer Qualität bzw. internalen/externalen Lernfaktoren sowie die Wirkung ausgewählter Wahrnehmungsgesetze auf das Userverhalten beim E-Learning.
