Cup fever reaches its climax as a TV crew arrive in town and girl friends and wives decide it's time to make their presence felt by announcing they are going on strike. Chaos rapidly ensues as the men are left to do the household chores and cooking, but determined not to accept defeat the two sides become united against each other. After a series of comic twists, all is happily resolved on Cup Final day and the whole town of Merton unites behind its team who, of course, can't do anything except win the Cup!
