Su señor, don Alonso, decide ir con Gabriel a una de las embarcaciones de la batalla de Trafalgar para presenciarla de cerca, en concreto al Santísima Trinidad, el más grande de la flota. A partir de ahí, comienzan los problemas.Trafalgar es el primero de los 10 títulos que componen la primera serie de Episodios Nacionales, escrita entre 1873 y 1875. A lo largo de la serie se abarca desde la derrota de Trafalgar en 1805, hasta la expulsión de las tropas francesas en la guerra de la Independencia (1808-1814).
