Too Much Information

It's hard to imagine a world where anything you could possibly want to know about - and everything you don't even know you want to know about - isn't accessible 24-hours a day, seven days a week, with just a few taps of our fingers. But that world once existed. And Dave Gorman remembers it. He remembers when there were only three channels on TV. He remembers when mobile phones were the preserve of arrogant estate agents and yuppie twonks. And he remembers when you had to unplug your phone to plug the computer into the landline in order to use the (crippling slow) internet. Now of course Dave is like the rest of us. Information is everywhere and he just can't get enough. Want to know more about scientology? Hello, Wikipedia! Need to organise your Twitter feeds? Download TweetDeck! Not seen a funny cat video today? There are millions on YouTube! Need to do your daughter's ponytail in just five seconds? Use a vacuum cleaner! But Dave isn't actually sure what we're doing with all this information - he certainly can't remember most of it. So he has decided to find out what happens if we try and slow the world down and examine the maelstrom of data swirling about in our heads. Is the world now just filled with disposable tat? Do we have an unquenchable thirst for knowledge? Or is there simply: Too Much Information?
