Heinrich Wilhelm Bernsau (1727 - 1763) war Professor der Theologie an der (1811 aufgehobenen) Universität in Franeker (im niederländischen Friesland). In dem vorliegenden Werk, zu dem Christian Wolff ein Vorwort verfasst hat, geht es dem Verfasser um das Thema der Existenz Gottes und seiner wichtigsten Attribute und Werke. Dabei hält er sich streng an das rationalistische Ideal Wolffs, die demonstrative Methode wie auf alle anderen Wissensgebiete auch auf die Theologie anzuwenden. Ebenso folgt er in der Organisation des Stoffes eng dem Vorbild der Wolff'schen Theologia naturalis, so dass man Bernsau mit gutem Recht als einen Schüler Wolffs bezeichnen kann.
