Edwin Hayes has always lived a simple, quiet little life. But that life is turned upside down when he meets a group of creatures he thought only existed in stories, and those creatures are out for blood. Fighting for his life, Edwin quickly realizes that one of them is not like the others.

Damascus, a tall, almost handsome vampire, is the polar opposite of Edwin: he's cunning, witty, and confident, and despite being the mastermind of his group and Edwin's captor, his attraction to Edwin grows by the day. But Edwin has never been in love with anyone before, let alone another man, and certainly not a vampire. Damascus' charm is undeniable, but Edwin could never let himself get entwined in a vampire's love life.

Until one fateful night on the run, when Edwin and Damascus are separated from everything they once held dear and threatened by a highly skilled vampire-hunting couple who jeopardize any vampire's very existence. Amidst the uncertainty, they turn to each other for comfort and protection - and the satisfaction of other, more physical, desires.

Letting loose has never felt better to Edwin, but the cracks in his and Damascus' tumultuous love develop quickly under pressure, and time is running out. Faced with leaving all that is safe and familiar behind, Edwin must make a decision: side with the humans who might defend him, or the vampire he's grown ever closer to. The choice is simple. The outcome is anything but.
