A hidden wakebook suggests that Aren, the elder Ardan brother long declared dead, may have survived.

Their investigation leads north along roads that move, through houses that remember vanished families, and toward settlements absent from every official map.

The murder reveals a conspiracy, but it also exposes a greater danger. A force known as the Unremembering is erasing not only history, but relationships, identity, and the physical world itself.
