After Christians are awarded first base, Satan will immediately look to pick them off, sending them back to the dugout in shame. If he can’t do that, he’ll settle for the stationary Christian who seems content on just standing “safely” as first base. But our Lord will have none of this. He exposes the enemy’s devices and provides the perfect coaching to help us round the bases in joy.
