The Flower Painter is about Gianna, a young girl, who learns about how the flowers in the family's garden get their colors. Gianna longs to see the flower painter, and many years pass before her desire is fulfilled. She has now grown into a woman and has her own daughter. On a day when both are in the family garden, Gianna sees in her daughter all the beautiful colors the flower painter gathers from God's creation and comes to understand that her daughter is a flower in God's garden.
