Tedha Qalam

Shafeeqa Farhat is considered as the only female writer of Urdu literature who adopted the genre of humor with such sincerity that she did not let her pen stray for the rest of her life. Many essays continued to exist from her lively pen. Shafiqa Farhat has been well aware of humor and the art of inshaiyah. Apart from the smoothness and fluency of the language, the inversion of words and the change of letters in the essays create such humor that the reader is forced to laugh. She has a good grasp on even the smallest problems of life. The issues that she has made the subject of her satire seems very close to public life. This book "Tedha Qalam" contains some of her amusing writings that are excellent examples of humor.

شفیقہ فرحت اردو دنیا کی واحد تانیثی شخصیت ہیں جنہوں نے طنز و مزاح کی صنف کو اس خلوص سے اپنایا کہ ساری زندگی اس کے علاوہ اپنے قلم کو بھٹکنے نہ دیا۔ متعدد یادگار انشایئے ان کے رشحات قلم سے وجود میں آتے رہے۔ طنز و مزاح اور انشائیہ کے فن سے شفیقہ فرحت خوب واقف رہی ہیں۔ زبان کی سلاست و روانی کے علاوہ الفاظ کے الٹ پھیر اور اشعار میں حرف کی تبدیلی سے ایسا مزاح پیدا کرتی ہیں کہ قاری ہنسنے پر مجبور ہو جاتا ہے۔ زندگی کے چھوٹے چھوٹے مسائل پر بھی ان کی اچھی گرفت ہے۔ انھوں نے جن مسائل کو اپنے طنز کا موضوع بنایا ہے وہ عوامی زندگی سے کافی قریب نظر آتے ہیں۔
