Straight-Tailed Pig, as the farmer calls him, is just like any other pig, except for one thing: he has a straight tail. All the other pigs on the farm have normal, curly tails. Because of this, they laugh at Straight-Tailed Pig and make him feel out of place. Eventually all the other animals accept him as one of their own because they still see him as "one of their farm family, and they loved him."

It's not until one day, when the farmer desperately needs his help, that Straight-Tailed Pig finally discovers his purpose and feels proud of who he is.

The Straight-Tailed Pig is a beautifully illustrated book that presents an important lesson: We are all different and each of us has a talent or gift to be shared with others for the good of all. It teaches kids, and adults alike, not to judge someone by his or her appearance, but by what is hidden in the heart.

PRESS RELEASE

FATHER TURNS BEDTIME STORY INTO PUBLISHED WORK

Beaver, PA(January 19, 2007) - Years ago when John Wolbert made up a simple bedtime story for his daughter, Lauren, he never imagined it would one day evolve into a colorful children's book.

"Honestly, I never thought anything would come of it," said Wolbert. "I just wanted to tell a nice story to my daughter. Years later I thought, hey, this would make a great children's book."

The Straight-Tailed Pig is a charming little tale with a valuable lesson. This beautifully illustrated book centers around an endearing but unlikely hero - a pig with an abnormally straight tail. Unfortunately for him, all the other pigs on the farm have normal curly tails. Because of all this, all the other animals on the farm make fun of him and make him feel out of place.

One day, however, the farmer is injured in an accident and desperately needs help to plant his crops. It is at this point when the straight-tailed pig finally discovers his true purpose.

The Straight-Tailed Pig is a wonderful story with an important lesson: Although we are all different, each one of us has a talent or gift to be shared with others for the good of the many. The story teaches both kids and adults alike not to judge someone by his or her appearance, but by what is hidden in the heart.

"I think it's a great lesson for people of all ages," said Wolbert, "and I'm very excited to share this story with other kids. I really think they'll love it."

Currently, Wolbert is planning a book launching party and hopes to do several readings and book signings in the coming weeks.
