If you created your own afterlife, would it be any good?
When a mild-mannered political junkie who's fed up with the state of his city accidentally chokes to death, he somehow lives on...inside the city he created on his computer, quickly discovering he didn't do as great a job building it as he thought he did, and paying the consequences for his missteps to an unhappy populus.
Tim Channing has had a really shitty fucking day. He is an invisible pawn in a city of nightmares, scraping the bottom of the barrel and working for a mayoral candidate with no hope of winning, all the while attempting to write a book of his own that will finally shine light on the corruption he has seen firsthand throughout his long career in politics. In his spare time, he designs brilliant cities on his computer that are visible to an entire world of gamers in the Simulantverse, while remaining invisibly anonymous in that world as well. Not to mention, through it all, he is extremely unlucky in love. Tim is unaware that in very short order, he will be dead. And he will somehow wake up in the city he has been designing on his computer since childhood, only to discover that he didn't do as great a job designing it as he initially believed and paying the consequences for his mistakes to the unhappy citizens. The only thing that can possibly save him is love and a willingness to change and adapt to a diverse environment where he must accept simulants as his equals in order to repair all the damage he has done building their universe.
