Im «Evaluationsboom» der vergangenen Jahre wurde oft die Frage vernachlässigt, wie man Evaluation so gestalten kann, dass sie einen echten Mehrwert für die Praxis erbringt. Dieses Buch analysiert den Ansatz der Selbstevaluation, bei dem nicht externe Evaluatoren, sondern die verantwortlichen Praktiker selbst die Evaluation in die Hand nehmen. Auf Basis einer umfassenden evaluationstheoretischen Analyse werden mögliche Potenziale und Risiken des Ansatzes diskutiert. Anhand einer empirischen Studie wird gezeigt, dass drei Gestaltungsfaktoren bei einer Selbstevaluation besonders wichtig für ihren Erfolg in der schulischen Praxis sind: Positive Erwartungen und die Selbstbestimmung der selbstevaluierenden Praktiker sowie das Vorhandensein von Evaluationsexpertise im Prozess der Selbstevaluation.
