Nicht erklärt wurde jedoch bisher, welche Verbindung zwischen Akupunkturpunkt an einer Körperstelle und Ort der Beschwerde an einer anderen besteht. Dies leistet dieses Buch und macht die Akupunktur für den schulmedizinisch ausgebildeten Arzt nachvollziehbar und einsehbar.Die Indikationen eines Punktes und die Regeln bei der Kombination mit anderen Punkten mussten bisher auswendig gelernt werden und die Erfahrung bestätigte die Wirkung beim Patienten. Doch der Autorin ist es gelungen, die Impulse vom Einstichort zum Wirkort mit Hilfe des spinalen und vegetativen Nervensystems zu beschreiben. Sie wurde bei der Arbeit unterstützt von W. Neuhuber, Neuroanatom an der Universität Erlangen.
