Kathryn Stromberg, a San Francisco hooker, witnesses a double murder and run looking for safety. Seeing a truck pulling a stock trailer she climbs into the cab surprising a cowboy from Utah. As they discuss her situation, he offers his ranch to hide at until it is safe. However, they don't get along and she eventually gets out in the middle of no where and he drives off. At a cafe in Salina, they meet again but she doesn't go with him. She eventually, talks the waitress talks her into going to his ranch because he is a famous Rode star and is reported to have a lot of money. This begins a tumultuous relationship which leads to them falling for each other. However, her past catches up with her in a dramatic conclusion.
