Beanstandet werden dagegen die immer gleichen Beschreibungen eines langweiligen Alltags und die Beschränkung auf den bürgerlichen Mittelstand. Liest man die Erzählungen und Romane jedoch konsequent im sozialen und literarischen Kontext der Bundesrepublik, ergibt sich ein anderes Bild. Dann stößt man auf Texte, die an literarischen Entwicklungen teilhaben, die zur Tagespolitik Position beziehen und dabei die Grundvoraussetzungen der zeitgenössischen Gesellschaft auf den Prüfstand stellen - Texte, denen in der Literaturgeschichte ein fester Platz gebührt.
