La incidencia de estomatitis subprótesis en pacientes portadores de prótesis parciales y totales removibles maxilares que presentaban bajo nivel de información en relación a dicha patología motivó a realizar una investigación de tipo descriptivo transversal,en el periodo de tiempo de marzo 2011 a enero del 2013, con el objetivo de diseńar un programa educativo dirigido a elevar la información sobre esta enfermedad. La población estuvo constituida por 316 pacientes donde se hizo coincidir con la muestra. En la recogida y procesamiento de la información se emplearon métodos empíricos, estadísticos y teóricos. Como resultados el nivel de información en la mayoría de los pacientes fue evaluado de mal y en tal sentido se diseńó un programa educativo que integraba varias acciones de promoción y prevención de la enfermedad, el cual fue valorado por un grupo de especialistas enunciaron su pertinencia, factibilidad y calidad para ser aplicado. Se recomendó aplicar el programa y Convertir a los pacientes en promotores de salud.
