Este volumen recoge el facsímil de la «Practica generalis» de Joan Plaça, es decir las lecciones que impartió desde las cátedras que ocupó en la Facultad de Medicina de nuestra universidad en la segunda mitad del siglo XVI. El manuscrito consta de dos partes dedicadas a los medicamentos, la primera en latín y la segunda en valenciano con algunos breves apartados en castellano. La aportación y el conocimiento de Plaça sobre las plantas que conocía y explicaba tuvieron gran repercusión y no pasaron desapercibidos. El hallazgo en la Biblioteca del Seminario Episcopal de Padua del manuscrito, animó al Prof. López Piñero a abordar la difícil tarea de interpretar dichas lecciones, así como rememorar la brillante historia de la Facultad de Medicina de Valencia y analizar las enseñanzas en la universidad renacentista.
