Él se vislumbra como parte esencial de su destino al que combatía antes y que es ahora su cómplice. Para San Pablo, el tiempo que restaba era aquel que transcurría entre la muerte de Cristo y su segunda vuelta al mundo para resucitar definitivamente a toda la humanidad. Como este tiempo, la Parusía, se retrasa más de lo debido, el poeta se ve ya resucitado en su obra, sin las necesidades materiales de las cuales dependió años atrás, y se acoge a una reflexión espiritual sobre lo que él va a dejar y lo que el Salvador se encontraría en el caso de que retornase. El tiempo que resta es el que sirve para el cultivo de uno mismo, con la ayuda de otros y de ninguno, sin ocultarse nada. Es la última oportunidad que tenemos para hacernos dignos de nuestra existencia. De esta perspectiva nacen los versos del nuevo poemario de César Antonio Molina, para quien una vida sin examen no merece ser vivida.
