Vertreter der nachfolgenden Komponistengeneration wie Hindemith und Prokofjew zeigten sich von seinen gelegentlich provozierenden Werken beeindruckt. Zu Lebzeiten allerdings sah sich der früh verstorbene Komponist immer wieder Angriffen des konservativen Musikestablishments ausgesetzt.§Nachdruck der Originalausgabe von 1922.
