La traduction a depuis toujours intéressé beaucoup de philosophes, linguistes et littéraires. Ce manuel, étant la synthèse de plusieurs lectures et basée sur différentes classifications, dont celle de Mathieu GUIDERE notamment, tente de donner un aperçu historico-traductologique sur la traduction. Le présent manuel se décline en deux chapitres. Le premier est consacré à l'histoire de la traduction en tant qu'activité millénaire et à l'histoire de la réflexion traductologique, souvent attribuée à l'Américain Eugène A. Nida mais qui, en fait, remonte au moins à la Grèce antique. Le deuxième, quant à lui, est dédié à différentes approches et théories de la traduction ayant marqué le 20ème siècle et continue de marquer le siècle en cours.
