Cet ouvrage s'intéresse ŕ la mise en oeuvre d'une approche de tolérance aux fautes visant l'auto- réparation des systčmes répartis. La motivation principale de ces travaux réside dans l'observation de la difficulté et du coűt en termes d'interruption de service qu'induit la réparation manuelle des systčmes répartis. L'approche proposée est fondée sur un modčle ŕ composants réflexifs, afin de rendre l'architecture logicielle distribuée observable et manipulable. Le premier défi est de montrer que les composants réflexifs permettent tout d'abord de modéliser structurellement un service distribué et de contrôler son évolution ŕ l'exécution au travers de ce modčle. La description en termes de composants forme le modčle, la réflexivité des composants permettant d'observer et d'agir sur la structure du logiciel distribué. Le second défi est de mettre en oeuvre sur des cas réels l'approche proposée, en prenant en compte des composants logiciels patrimoniaux de complexité significative. Le troisičme défi est de montrer que l'approche proposée permet de traiter le problčme de la disponibilité du mécanisme d'auto-réparation lui-męme.
