Parmi les références privilégiées : François Rabelais, ce poète du ventre, Dominique Laporte et son Histoire de la merde (Christian Bourgois, 1973), Antonin Artaud dans L'Ombilic des Limbes (Gallimard, 1927), divers écrits de Louis-Ferdinand Céline, ainsi que de Jean-Paul Sartre. L'écriture est-elle produit viscéral, des tripes, ou du cerveau ? Ce livre montre que les processus de production ne sont pas sans analogies, et l'assimilation opérée relève de la métaphore ; il s'agit en fait d'une clé de lecture.
