Jacob Moser (1839-1922) war ein Freund und Weggefährte Theodor Herzls - und ein zupackender Protagonist der zionistischen Idee. Von Beruf Kaufmann, blickte er über den "Tellerrand" seiner Profession hinaus und entwickelte ein von philanthropischen Neigungen getragenes, breit angelegtes gesellschaftliches Engagement. Moser initiierte und finanzierte nicht nur Großprojekte im Herzlschen Sinne im damaligen Palästina, auch in seiner Vaterstadt Kappeln an der Schlei im Nordosten Schleswig Holsteins und in seiner neuen Heimat, der Industriestadt Bradford in Nordengland, begründete er zahlreiche Stiftungen zugunsten der gesamten Bevölkerung. Mehrere seiner Ideen und wohltätigen Projekte wirken bis in die Gegenwart fort.
