The Invisible Men

Neil, from the Sunshine Coast in QLD, is so unnoticeable that people call him Nil. He works on this and eventually learns to become invisible. It isn't long before Nil becomes a voyeur. Infatuated with a former workmate, he keeps returning to her flat to spy on her. This makes it possible for her and her boyfriend to capture Nil.

Viktor, born in Russian, has an invisible arm. Minders put the boy into an English-speaking spy school. By secondary school, Viktor can make himself completely invisible. While in school, Viktor acquires an ally, Galina. She, however, does not show potential as an ESP, and so Viktor's minders move her to another city. Also they constantly put electronic bugs in his rooms. Some he secretes in the minders' offices and, over time, he realises that when sent to England as a spy, he might be used for anti-Russian purposes. In England, Viktor finds a struck-off cardiologist to remove the tracker. He is then able to counter his minders' scheme and have them think that he is now dead.

After grey London, Viktor settles on the Sunshine Coast, Australia. By this time, Nil has been passed onto a government anti-terrorism department. A tracker has now been inserted into him.

In trying to find Nil, his minders realize there must be another invisible. They recruit Nil to catch Viktor. Yet Nil gives Viktor his phone number and enables him to run. He then short-circuits his tracker and, as an invisible, limps away.

Viktor phones Nil. They meet and slowly learn to trust each other. Eventually, they both go to Russia, and bring Galina back to Australia with them. They are becoming settled when Galina urges them to become part-time invisible vigilantes.
