As the geographical boundaries of the firm expand, §complex organizations emerge which need greater §information-processing capacity. The dissertation §examines that dynamic process and its information §needs. Since internationalization proceeds step-by-§step, its success depends on the ability of the firm §to gather the necessary information during the §process and to effectively utilize that information. §Therefore, information-processing plays a crucial §role in the internationalization process. In this dissertation internationalization §is operationalized by examining the different stages §in that process (products, operations and markets). §Information-processing capacity is operationalized §by examining the use of information and §communications technologies (ICTs).
