Modernes Wissensmanagement, die ständige Weiterentwicklung von komplexen Multimedia-Anwendungen und neue Formen des elektronischen Publizierens haben das Verhältnis zwischen Autor, Leser und Werk bereits nachhaltig verändert. Nichts deutet darauf hin, dass diese Entwicklung sich abschwächen könnte.§Die vorliegende Arbeit untersucht die Charakteristika von Hypertexten unter Berücksichtigung der technologischen Entwicklung und ordnet das Phänomen Hypertext in einen literarischen Kontext ein. §Die Untersuchung spannt einen Bogen von frühen nicht-linearen Schriften wie dem Talmud über die Erfindung des Buchdrucks, den Ideen der poststrukturalistischen Literaturtheorie und der Dekonstruktion bis hin zu heutigen Hypertextsystemen im Internetzeitalter.
