Meet Peanut, a little Red-Eared Slider turtle whose life takes an unexpected turn when she encounters a piece of discarded plastic near a stream. As Peanut grows, a six-pack soda ring trapped around her shell becomes increasingly tight, changing the shape of her shell and eventually making it difficult for her to breathe.

When children discover Peanut in distress, they take action to help her. With assistance from the Saint Louis Zoo, the dangerous plastic ring is carefully removed, giving Peanut a chance to receive the care she desperately needs. Her journey then continues at the Powder Valley Conservation Nature Center, where she is nurtured back to health, given space to exercise and swim, and becomes an inspiration to children and visitors.
