Heidi Kippenberg studierte Keramik bei Walter Popp, dem legendären Lehrer an der Kasseler Kunsthochschule, dessen damals avantgardistisches Werk dem keramischen Gefäß neue Form- und Ausdrucksdimensionen erschloss. Heidi Kippenberg hatte die Gefäßästhetik Popps verinnerlicht, zugleich aber mit eigener, unverkennbarer Note sich anverwandelt: Kräftig gedrehte, starkwandige, mitunter montierte Steinzeuggefäße, angetan mit monochromen, dicken Glasuren und versehen mit zeichenartigen, kontrastierenden Glasurakzenten bestimmten ihr Werk. Spät ließ sie sich inspirieren von der Keramik Ostasiens, begann, Gefäße zu bauen, aus Platten zu montieren, Oberflächen lebendig zu strukturieren, in Dekorlandschaften zu verwandeln. Ein uvre aus mehr als einem halben Jahrhundert ist zu bewundern!
