This forest is alive, but not the way it should be...

Toward the end of August every year, upperclassmen from Yelm High School head to Yelm Lake for an end-of-summer party. Some drive to the nearby field and walk the rest of the way, but most hike through the woods-just in case they need to flee on foot when the cops show up to shut things down.

With all the recent disappearances in the area, Danny Holland insists taking Tucker or Kyle's car would be the smart call. But no one ever listens to the new guy. Especially not Tucker.

Deep in the forest, the drunk squad of four stumbles across something incomprehensible-a fleshy biomass that has engulfed the clearing and begun swallowing the surrounding trees. Slumped at its center is an unconscious girl who looks just a little... off.

One thing is clear: she needs help.

And they're the only ones who might be able to save her.

One wrong step is all it takes to turn a chill hike into a waking nightmare of unimaginable horrors.

As things spiral from bad to worse, Danny begins to realize that this forest covered in flesh might be what's been making people vanish without a trace.

And if he's right, stepping onto that meaty ground may mean none of them ever make it out...

Series & Reading Order Note

Flesh Forest is set after the events of earlier books in the Primeval Ones universe and is best read in publication order for the full narrative experience. However, this installment was also written to function as an entry point for new readers.

While it lightly references prior events and established lore, the story follows a new cast of characters encountering the horror for the first time. Readers who begin here may encounter spoilers for earlier books but can still enjoy this novel as a standalone body-horror experience before potentially exploring the rest of the series. Additional context is provided in the front matter.
