Eutokios aus Askalon (4. Jh. n.Chr.) begleitete seine Ausgabe der ersten vier Bücher der Konika des Apollonios aus Perge durch einen Kommentar. Seine Angaben sind nicht nur für die Geschichte der Kegelschnitte, sondern auch für die Textüberlieferung des Apollonios von außerordentlicher Bedeutung. Zugleich liegt hier ein wertvolles Zeugnis der Tradition wissenschaftlichen Kommentierens in der Antike vor. Der ausschließlich griechisch überlieferte Text des Eutokios wurde erstmals von J. L. Heiberg (1893) kritisch ediert. In der hier vorgelegten Neuedition wird er erstmals in eine moderne Sprache übersetzt. Diese Eutokios-Edition vervollständigt die graeco-arabische Ausgabe der ersten vier Bücher der Konika (SGA 1-2).
