Dirk Alvermann

Der Fotograf Dirk Alvermann war immer schon neugierig auf Menschen und ihr manchmal merkwürdiges Leben. Jahrzehntelang hat er sie aus nächster Nähe mit der Kamera beobachtet und dabei allein seiner Wahrnehmung vertraut. Auf diese völlig subjektive, aber gleichzeitig auch unvoreingenommene§§Weise wurde in seinen Fotografien jeder Ort zum Schauplatz der sozialen Interaktion, auf die er lediglich sein Objektiv zu richten hatte. Nichts ist inszeniert in seinen Bildern, "die Welt ist von alleine so...".§§Für diesen Band durchforstete Alvermann abermals sein umfangreiches Archiv und stellte vier weitere seiner filmhaften Bildserien zusammen. Ihm ging es weniger um die Einzelaufnahmen§§als vielmehr um deren Abfolge und ihren Bezug aufeinander, um die filmische Montage des Materials. Das Ergebnis ist ein Bildessay, der Alvermanns gesamte fotografische Schaffensperiode umfasst: Von den polnischen Solidaritätsbekundungen mit dem Ungarnaufstand 1956, über Düsseldorfer Fastnachtszüge und spanische Karfreitagsprozessionen bis in das private Umfeld des Fotografen. Photographer Dirk Alvermann has always been curious about people and their occasionally strange habits. For decades he observed them with his camera and only relied on his perception. In this subjective but unprejudiced way, any place in his photographs became a setting of social interaction at which he only had to point the camera. Nothing is staged in his images, the world is by itself as it appears .For this volume, Alvermann has once again scoured his extensive photo archive and compiled another four of his film- like image series. He is not so much concerned about the individual shots as their sequence and their relation to each other, the filmic montage of the material. The result is a visual essay encompassing Alvermann s entire photographic work: From the Polish sympathetic strikes in favour of the upheavals in Hungary in 1956, the Dusseldorf Carnival and Spanish Good Friday processions to the photographer s private surroundings.
