Daneben soll aufgezeigt werden, dass für Rom der Vertrag primär kurzfristig verhindern sollte, dass die Karthager sich mit den Kelten nördlich der Alpen verbünden sollten, um Rom anzugreifen, aber keineswegs einen dauerhaften Frieden sichern sollte.
