Wiederentdeckt und redigiert wurde sie von Ibn Hisham; übersetzt von Gustav Weil. Ibn Ishak gelingt ein menschliches Bild des Propheten, ohne die ihn umwehenden Wunder zu entzaubern. Nebenbei erfährt der Leser viel Wissenswertes über die Geburtstunde des islamischen Glaubens und dessen Siegeszug in Arabien. Für diese Ausgabe des Werkes wurde der Text aufwändig aus Frakturschrift in moderne Schrift übertragen und behutsam lektoriert.
