"Cohesion and writing quality" is an exploratory study of the construct of written cohesion in Euro Examinations. The research adopts a mixed methods design where the quantitative results from live exam data are combined with script analysis, as well as think-aloud protocols and semi-structured interviews with principal examiners. The findings suggest that while human rating relies heavily on the common understanding of a central concept, it is often difficult to collect empirical evidence to support the existence of a shared construct.
