New York, winter 1968. On the eve of a gallery survey, the sculptor Chryssa has one failing circuit and fifty-seven minutes before a recorded interview. When an early interviewer enters her studio carrying a white chrysanthemum, questions about art, authorship, technology, and purpose become an ethical struggle over who owns a voice-and what survives when the light goes out.
Structured as a contemporary Greek tragedy, Chrysanthemum is a one-act play for two performers and a recorded Radio Chorus. Drawing on Chryssa's documented artistic practice while separating history from dramatic invention, it asks whether meaning lives inside us-or in the contacts we choose to keep alive.
