This book, for the first time, classifies and systematically organizes the Dunhuang materia medica (herbal) literature. It introduces the methodology of codicology (manuscript studies), conducting a detailed analysis of the Dunhuang herbal manuscripts from perspectives such as variant characters (common script forms), scribal practices, and the use of colored annotations and mixed ink writing (often described as "red and black intermingled"). Furthermore, the book connects the Dunhuang materia medica texts with related herbal works, carrying out research on the reconstruction (compilation of lost texts) and critical collation of relevant herbal literature. This represents an academically innovative contribution.

本书首次对敦煌本草文献进行分类整理，引入写本学研究方法，从俗字、抄写、"朱墨杂书"等角度对敦煌本草文献进行分解研究。另外，该书还从文献内容方面，将敦煌本草文献与相关本草著作联系起来，进行相关本草著作辑佚、校勘等方面的研究，具有学术创新性。

This book focuses on the study of materia medica manuscripts excavated from Dunhuang and Turfan, providing a systematic classification and organization of these texts. The book is divided into five chapters: (1) An Overview of Excavated Dunhuang and Turfan Materia Medica Manuscripts; (2) A Study of Variant Characters (Common Script Forms) in These Manuscripts; (3) A Study of Scribal Practices in These Manuscripts; (4) A Study of Colored Annotations and Mixed Ink Writing ("Red and Black Intermingled") in These Manuscripts; and (5) A Study of These Manuscripts and the "Seven Emotions" (Drug Interactions) Table.

This book offers more precise textual evidence for the study of Dunhuang and Turfan materia medica manuscripts.
