The volume documents compounds of boron with oxygen such as boron oxides, boron derived acids, their salts including peroxoborates, as well as organoboron species; it updates the preceding supplement series. Special attention is devoted to compounds which have become important in recent years as nonlinear optical materials. The main body of boron-oxygen compounds reviewed comprises borates, minerals with borate structures, and borate glasses. About 300 luminescent phosphors prepared from B2O2 are tabulated.
