Arthur Schnitzler (1862 ů 1931) was an Austrian playwright, author and doctor. SchnitzlerZs writings were criticized for their anti-Semitism and their explicit descriptions of sexuality. Schnitzler kept a diary for many years and for a period of time he recorded every orgasm and with whom in great detail. She idealizes the time she spent with Emil and, without properly considering the consequences, writes him a letter. He is by now a famous violinist. Bertha hopes that he remembers her. He does and his reply, which comes quickly, suggests a meeting.
