Ausgehend von der Technologie der Baureihe wurden Mitte der 1980er Jahre sogar die ersten ICE-Triebköpfe entwickelt. Karl-Gerhard Haas berichtet über Entwicklung, Bau und Geschichte dieser revolutionären Baureihe, deren Einsatzzeit bei der DB AG leider zu Ende geht.
