Zwischen diesen Polen wird der Bahnhof auf vielfältige Weise literarisch dargestellt. Marcel Proust etwa spricht von »wunderbaren Stätten«, wo der Reisende einen »akt von furchtbarer Feierlichkeit vollziehen kann«.
