Poverty is one of the important social and economic problems confronted by India and other developing countries, more especially in the recent times. They are economic backwardness, low income, low productivity, poor infrastructure facilities, poor access to institutional credit, high indebtedness. In India since planning era many efforts were made by state and central governments to eradicate poverty.
