Die Messlatte im Bereich des Piano Trios liegt bekanntlich hoch und dies liegt nicht zuletzt auch an Gary Peacock, der als Bassist in den Bands von Bill Evans, Paul Bley und Keith Jarrett stetig mithalf, die Messlatte in diesem Genre noch höher zu legen. Das Album Now This wurde im letzten Sommer mit Peacocks aktuellem Trio in Oslo aufgenommen. Neue Versionen einiger Peacock-Klassiker wie Moor, Vignette, Requiem und Gaya sind durchmischt mit Kompositionen von Marc Copland und Joey Baron, genauso wagte sich das Trio aber auch an Scott La Faros Glorias Step heran. Die Rollen innerhalb der Band sind gleichberechtigt eine Tatsache, die dem melodischen Erfindungsreichtum in Peacocks Bassspiel sehr zu Gute kommt. Marc Copland beweist stets ein besonderes Gespür für die Besonderheiten einer Komposition und Joey Baron bringt sowohl Instinkt für den Drive als auch außerordentliches Feingefühl für sensible Details mit. Now This erscheint pünktlich zu Gary Peacocks 80. Geburtstag am 12. Mai.
